Tit for Tat: China Returns US ‘Favour’

Interesting Stuff

cable1_big.jpg In a reverse of events, China rejected goods imported from US companies amid claims that they do not meet safety and health standards. In what should be dubbed the ‘Ningbo and Shenzhen Raisin Party’, batches of health supplements and raisins shipped by three American companies were returned or destroyed because authorities in Ningbo and Shenzhen found unacceptable levels of bacteria and sulphur dioxide in them.

It seems China has learnt to play by the rules of the trade in an increasingly competitive global economy. It also reveals the hypocrisy if not vulnerability of the US to growing Asian economies.

Interesting Stuff

bilde.jpgLike a scene from Speed or the Matrix, a man got the ride of his life when he got hooked to a semi-trailer and was pushed down a highway for several kilometres at 80 mph. But he is not Keanu Reeves. Besides he has muscular dystrophy and is wheelchair-bound. Ben Carpenter thought he would die when his wheelchair handles got lodged on the grilles of the semi-trailer when he was crossing an intersection. His father watched with horror as his son disappeared from view and the wild terrifying nightmare began.

The driver of the trailer was unaware of what was happening. Motorists called police on their cellphones and undercover police officers who happened to be at the scene pulled the trailer over.

Celebrity Driving Devil

Celebrity News

georgemicahel.jpgGeorge Michael, the bad boy of British pop, plays a cooler customer than Paris Hilton. He paid the same lip service as Paris Hilton but in a more convincing and remorseful style. He said to reporters: ‘I had done something really wrong in putting other people at risk.’ He immediately defended himself by saying in the next breath: ‘In reality I have been sentenced on the basis of unfit driving through tiredness and prescription medicines, which I fully accept responsibility for.’
