Panasonic Communication is announcing the world’s thinnest of 9.5mm in a built-in PC Blue-ray Disc drive to start sample shipments.

It able to achieve flat screen technology with its Len actuator drives to balance sensitivity and has correction mechanism ability for spherical aberration.

To improve read and write recording speed, the use of optical waveform which is a broadband light sensitive element of the BD-R ( Blue-ray disc recording) and BD-RE (rewriteable) to achieve 2 times record or playback. Both are DL (Double side layer) as opposed to traditional SL, requiring only optics to change the laser focus and a capacity of up to 50GB record / playback support. In addition, BD also supports CD and DVD recording / playback specification and the size is of 9.5mm thick × 128mm width × 127 mm depth.

The product will be exhibited at 2008 International CES, a consumer electronics trade show held each January in Las Vegas, Nevada.
