A strapless silk-chiffon evening gown wore by Princess Diana to the 1987 Cannes Film Festival and London opening of “Miss Saigon” in the late 1980s was up for auction on eBay but it failed to attract even one bid. The sale of the dress supposed to go to America’s Promise Alliance, a charity dedicated to help disadvantaged children stay in school. However, the starting bid for the dress on eBay was $125,000 but it didn’t attract any bidder until the auction closed on August 22, 2007.

This was the second time the evening gown on auction. It was among 79 dresses that Diana auctioned off for charity in New York in June 1997, and WE TV network bought the dress in the auction at around 71,000 dollars. Though the gown was later appraised and valued at 275,000 dollars, experts have recently questioned its true worth.
