A replica and reconstruction of the remains of a more than 3-million-year-old female hominid was on display on August 7, 2007. The female hominid is known as “Lucy”. It is the world’s famous skeleton; it will be on a six-year US tour but Ethiopians are worried the fragile bones may not survive.

The reconstruction replica skeleton of “Lucy” might have looked like was “standing” beside the remains skeleton. It is now open for visitors to view at the National Museum in Addis Ababa.
