World record holder Joey Chestnut defeated 6-time world champion Takeru Kobayashi from Japan, who is also the defending champion of Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest in New York City on July 3, 2007.

The new champion Chestnut ate 66 hot dogs in 12 minutes or average one hot dog at just about every 11 seconds. Kobayashi took second place with 63 dogs, stood next to Joey Chestnut, who recently broke Kobayashi’s record by eating 59 and a half hot dogs and buns. Both men were out to beat that record today.
