TV Reality Shows
Celebrity News, Interesting StuffDo you know that there are a lot of television reality shows to date? A first I thought Survivor was the first reality show and then came the Outback Jack, Treasure Islands, America Top Models, Idols, Fear Factor and etc.
But only to my knowledge that reality shows has started long before that. Wikipedia said that it began in 1940s. Wiki has categorised the reality shows to 7 different categories:
1. Documentary style
2. Elimination or game based shows
3. Self-improvement or makeoover
4. Dating shows
5. Talk shows
6. Hidden cameras
7. Hoaxes
Here are some example on the shows in each category:
1. Documentary style
– The Simple Life by Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie
– The Osbournes
2. Elimination or game based shows
– Big Brother
– IDOL shows
– The Bachelor
– America’s Next Top Model (for modelling)
– Hell’s Kitchen (for chefs)
– Project Runaway (for clothing designers)

– Extreme Makeover

The most popular reality TV shows are game based shows or makeover. It’s amazing how these type of shows have expand over the last 5 years.
