Interesting StuffAre you a James Bond fans ??? This is a a nickel-plated Victorian Lancaster pocket watch that also includes a spy/tiny camera. Besides, the pocket watch which patented in 1886 was a forerunner for the early spy camera. In addition, this spy camera pocket watch recently sold at Bonhams auction for $36,000.
Acording to Lionel Hughes, Bonhams’ camera specialist, “This is a truly exceptional piece, and the price achieved at Bonhams recently reflects this,” he explained. “The Lancaster Watch Camera was patented in October 1886 and made until 1890. Such tiny cameras were the forerunners for the ‘spy’ camera – a mechanism disguised as a different object.”
The Lancaster spy camera watch was owned by the grandson of a cabinetmaker who worked at J. Lancaster & Son, probably working on the many wooden cameras sold by the company, according to Bonhams.
