The Good-Shepherd, a drama starring Academy Award winners Matt Damon, Angelina Jolie and Robert De Niro and directed by Robert De Niro. It is a movie on romance and thriller. The movie outlines the tumultuous early history of the Central Intelligence Agency and it is viewed through the prism of one man’s life.

The movie started with Edward Wilson (Matt Damon), the only witness to his father’s suicide. He understands the value of secrecy-discretion and commitments to honor have been embedded in him since childhood. As an eager, morally upright and optimistic student at Yale, he is recruited to join the secret society Skull and Bones a brotherhood and breeding ground for future world leaders. Wilson’s acute mind, spotless reputation and sincere belief in American values render him a prime candidate for a career in intelligence, and he is soon recruited to work for the OSS (the precursor to the CIA) during World War II.

While working there, Edward Wilson’s ideals gradually turn to suspicion influenced by the Cold War paranoia present within the office. Eventually, he becomes an influential veteran operative, while his distrust of everyone around him increases to no end. His dedication to his work does not come without a price though, leading him to sacrifice his ideals and eventually his family.
