The evolution of slinky toy started out from a naval engineer, Richard James who was obsessed with springs tension back in 1945, and was amazed to see how the spring steel coil dropping from his grasp became one of the world’s beloved toys of all.

The incredible of repeating turning its end over and over led to his wife suggested a new born name slinky meaning sleek and sinuous in Swedish and also became part of the American lexicon.

Over the years, a safety feature of crimps have been added to expand its scope of usage including physical, occupational therapy and antennae for soldiers in Vietnam War. In 2001, the slinky was named Pennsylvania’s official toy.
