Chinese traditional or classical dance is a graceful elegant dance style that first appeared in the Imperial palaces of the Chin and Han dynasties more than two thousand years ago. The dances were often based on fairy tales of poetry and were characterized by subtlety, elegance and strict choreography based on movements of the hand, head, eyes, shoulders, waist, hips and feet, and also the use of costumes as an integral part of dance.

The traditional Chinese dance art, actually expresses purity, kindness and beauty, enhance the creation of Chinese traditional dances, and promote world cultural exchange.

The aesthetic of eastern dance is different from western dance forms such as ballet and modem dance. The round line and curved form are the essential to the beauty of eastern dance, just as the straight line and vertical form are characteristic of western dance. In China, the round form is an externalization of thought that comes from Chinese culture, custom, and long historic background. Chinese dance art is a reflection of human lives, and Chinese dance form an expression of an idea. Eastern dance exists in its details, the movements of hands, feet, legs, arms, eyes, hips, and the poised body carriage. The overall effect is characterized by rounder forms, calmness and control, and stillness.
