The sparkly tiara was a little too big for her head and she mouthed to the crowd: “My crown doesn’t fit.”

The beauties were judged in categories including best talent, healthy body image and sports and fitness.

The aspiring actress was chosen by a panel of judges including the three doyennes of Australian etiquette – Jane Ferguson, Lady Sonia McMahon and June Dally-Watkins.

She will represent Australia at the Miss World contest in Johannesburg, South Africa, on December 12.

But she says not much will change when she wakes up this morning.

“I’ll still get up and probably have peanut butter on toast for breakfast but after that I’m not sure what’s happening,” Ms Lavers said.

“I guess I won’t be going to work tomorrow.”
