Luciano Pavarotti, the world famous opera singer for his high vibrant operatic vocal C’s has passed away. His condition deteriorated in the last 24 hours after a battle with cancer in the early morning at his home Modena, Italy.

“The Maestro fought a long, tough battle against the pancreatic cancer which eventually took his life. In fitting with the approach that characterised his life and work, he remained positive until finally succumbing to the last stages of his illness,” the statement said.

Last year, he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and underwent surgery in New York City. Since then, his health has been steadily decline. He underwent further treatment in August 2007 and hospitalized for more than two weeks after he has admitted for high fever.

To fans, his instantly recognizable with his black beard and tuxedo, the beauty and thrilling urgency of Pavarotti’s voice made him a star in the 1960s and ‘70s. His charismatic performances made him a legend particularly for his immensely popular Three Tenors concerts that Pavarotti radiated with his colleagues Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras.

May he rest in peace for we have lost a most beloved tenor opera singer of all time and he will be missed.
