Two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank has just received the 2,325th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the latest milestone in her rags-to-riches career. She attended a morning ceremony on last Monday to see her star being unveiled on Hollywood Boulevard. She received the honour just three days after the release of her latest film, “Freedom Writers“. It is a double happiness to her.

Hilary Ann Swank was born in 1974 at Lincoln, Nebraska. Swank was thence raised in Bellingham, Washington, where she participated in school and community theater programs, swimming and gymnastics. She began her Hollywood film career with a small part participation in part in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992) and then a major part in The Next Karate Kid (1994), She has become known for her two Oscar-winning performances: a troubled transsexual man, Brandon Teena, in the movie Boys Don’t Cry, and a struggling waitress-turned-boxer, Maggie Fitzgerald, in Million Dollar Baby.

With her acting talent and hard effort, she has enjoyed a meteoric climb from humble beginnings to become one of the world’s most in-demand actresses.

The actress’ pavement accolade is set to be right in front of the landmark cinema Grauman’s Chinese Theater. That would have been a far cry for a girl who lived out of a car with her mother when they first moved to Southern California for her acting dream…
