Ang Lee is producing his latest movie now, “Lust, Caution”. The story is adapted from a novel by the late Chinese writer Eileen Chang. It will be an espionage thriller set in world war 2 era in Shanghai, centering around Mr. Yee, a powerful political figure and Wang Jia-zhi, the young woman who gets swept up in a dangerous game of emotional intrigue with him.

The film stars new actress Tang Wei, China actress Joan Chen, Hong Kong veteran Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Chinese-American singer Leehom Wang.

joanchen.jpgTony plays the intelligence official Mr. Yee, and Chen as his wife. Tang Wei plays the student Wang Jia-zhi, who seduces Yi to pave the way for the assassination and Leehom portrays Kuang Yumin, a student collaborator of Wang Jia-zhi’s.

Ang Lee was shooting his new film in Shanghai before new year and was causing traffic jams in the city. He made an apology on New Year’s Eve when he attended an activity at a local television station, saying he felt sorry for having brought inconvenience to Shanghai citizens.
