Japanese consumer electronics giant Sony Corp’s 11-inch OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) television “XEL-1”, is unbelievable slim, its panel is only 3mm thick.

OLED TVs are incredibly slim because the organic material directly emits light and do not require a thick backlight or complex construction on its display panels like other flat panel technologies.

besides the thin factor, it offers picture quality with amazing contrast, outstanding brightness, exceptional color reproduction, and a rapid response time. The contrast ratio is over 1,000,000:1. Without a high-voltage backlight to power, the TVs consume just 45 watts.

The price of this new technology TV set is $1,736, and due to its high price, it will definitely turn down most TV shoppers. And maybe due to this reason also, Sony will produce only 2,000 units a month.
