Pop Star A-One Is Replacing Twins Gillian Chung in Olympic Theme Song

On February 26, 2008, the Beijing Olympic Games opening ceremony director Zhang Yimou (張芸謀) reported the possibility to appoint a new candidate for the Olympic theme song singer. Initially, the appointment will be Twins singer Gillian Chung. However, Gillian Chung was dropped out of the list due to the Hong Kong Edison sex scandal. In place of is a man from mainland China pop idol A-one emerged in the list.

The fourth recruiting applicant activities across the world received was 70,000 lyrics, 1,700 theme songs but the final selection announcement day will be 100 days before the Olympic ceremony opening. Meanwhile, the ripple effect of indecent sexual acts photos incident forced Olympic organizing committee to remove singers such as Nicholas Tse (謝霆鋒) and his wife Cecilia Chang as well as the Twins pairs from the likely candidate selection.

Though, A-One pop star was emerged as likely candidate but will subject to auditions elected by members as well as subsequent fan votes will be reflected in the decision.
