Sexual Frustrations
Interesting Stuff
You feel excited, flushed and a warm swelling in your vagina. Your breath and heartbeat quicken and a warm liquid flows into your panties. Your nipples become erect and you are acutely aware of your breasts becoming bigger. You moan in pleasure and arch your nude body. Then you let out a cry of pleasure as a rush of intense satisfaction washes over you. Finally, you feel spent and languid as your breasts and nipples shrink back to their normal sizes.
These are the stages of a woman’s sexual cycle: excitement, plateau, orgasm and resolution. Once desire for sexual activity is aroused, a series of physiological and psychological changes are triggered. Understanding how the female sex drive works can help in conquering sexual problems because sexual dysfunction can be caused by a number of biological, psychological or interpersonal factors.
Sexual problems can affect any stage of the sexual cycle. Sometimes a woman may feel too stressed or physically unwell to have sex. Attempts by the male to initiate sex are met by rejection because there is no interest in sexual activity. Low sexual drive is a lack of sexual desire or sexual fantasy. A more serious state is aversion or phobia in sex due to a history of sexual abuse or pain in intercourse. Others cannot be sexually turned on. This is because the clitorial and labial swelling, vaginal lubrication and erection of the nipples are not kicked off.
There are also women who cannot reach orgasm even after they have been sexually stimulated and aroused. Depression sets in because these women feel sexually inadequate. Some women never achieve orgasm throughout their lives while others may have difficulty in achieving orgasm or have lost the ability to do so. Others experience pain during penetration when there is friction between the penis and vagina. This condition is known as dyspareunia. Another condition called vaginismus occurs when the woman suffers intense pain during penetration because she unconsciously contracts the outer muscles of her vagina to block the penis.
The right treatment for sexual problems depends on the right diagnosis. The good news is there are many ways to treat these problems ranging from psychotherapy to surgery. It is therefore important for women to be open and to find the right cause for their sexual discomfort or dysfunction.
