Woman Kept Dead Husband for A Year

A Mexican woman Mercedes Velarde was believed has psychological problem, kept dead body of her husband in her bedroom for a year. This case was revealed when the neighbors called the police to report the bad smell came out from her house. When police arrived and found the putrefied body with worms of her husband, in early 60s, beside her bed.

Psychiatrists are examining the woman and her son as well because her son regularly helped to remove worms infesting the dead body, and believed to have psychological problem also. They may be sent to a psychiatric hospital once confirmed by psychiatrists, otherwise they could face criminal charges for hiding a dead person.

“Yes, these people have psychological problems, they hid a corpse. Even if it is a family member, they committed a crime,” the spokesperson of Mexico City attorney general’s office said.
