No rain for few months causes drought in South Sulawesi, Indonesia, dry land and crack earth can be seen anywhere. Villagers are forced to walk few miles to fetch drinking water. Nobody can help the villagers, it becomes the duty of men and women, adults and children, to carry containers on their heads or shoulders, walk through dry land to get water, at least for drinking.

CNN Ends 27-year Relationship with Reuters

The CNN cable television news network announced on August 30, 2007 that they would stop using the Reuters news service including Reuters text, photography and television material. CNN has been using the Reuters news service since 1980, it will end the 27-year relationship with Reuters.

CNN, owned by the world’s largest media company, Time Warner Inc. said in an internal memo that it wanted to cut cost on agency material and invest in its own news gathering operations.

New Seasonal Wasps Flavour Japanese Rice Crackers

To add spice to Japanese traditional rice crackers fare, wasps was used up to five to six pieces per piece. Not only it is visible to your eyes only but can be eaten as well. However, young guys refuse to eat the bug but not to the seniors who love them and even has an order from a nursing home.

It was reported, along with the waspish scent, the crackers were said to be slightly more oil than the traditional soy sauce flavoured ones. “It’s hard to explain and you really just have to taste it yourself.”

Malaysian King Tooth Pulls Seven Train by Teeth to Break World Records

A Malaysian “Raja Gigi” (means “King Tooth”) Rathakrishnan Velu pulled a seven-coach train, weighing about 300 tonnes at a railway station in Kuala Lumpur on August 30, 2007. He sat down and using a steel rope clenched in his mouth, a feat that organizers said was a new world record for the heaviest weight pulled with teeth.

His supporters and onlookers clapped and shouted “Malaysia Boleh!” (means “Malaysia Can!”) to boost up the spirit of Rathakrishnan when he performed the stunt.

China’s First Test-tube Baby Enters College

Zheng Mengzhu 郑萌珠,the first test-tube baby of China was born on March 1988 in the No. 3 Hospital affiliated to the Beijing University of Medical Sciences. The 19-year-old girl is to enter Xijing Vocational Institute in Xi’an, capital of the northwestern Shaanxi Province in the fall semester starting next week.

It was said her parents had been trying for nearly 20 years to have a child and Zheng’s mother became pregnant at the age of 39 by test-tube technology.

Release of Windows Vista Pre Beta Service Pack 1

Latest news that the Windows Vista SP1 is going to release in the 1st quarter of 2008 and also there will be 10,000 to 15,000 beta distribution to tester.

Some of the concerns have been addressed as follows:
1. There is some degree of bug fix and performance reliable application compatibility improvement like XP SP2 in the past.
2. No hitch with current Vista with new Vista SP1. New updates are included which has since renewing many filea as far as in 20 cases for Vista.
3. Download size is small about 50MB.
4. Stand alone Vista SP1 is also available other than Windows update. As example of Javascript improvement from IE so that AJAX can run faster, resume to functionality from Standby state and reduces time taken from CTRL.ALT/DELETE tot lgoin prompt and more.

Another copy cat down the road, Nokia branded iphone from Apple? Nokia announced in the Nokia’s GoPlay event for the New N series of multiple touch screen Nokia iphone.

Nokia spokesman went on to reply in one of the question and answer session, “If there are some superior product in the world, we copy with pride.’

The touch screen is built on the unique interface named TouchFlo from HTC which can detect sweeping motion either from hand or stylus. The whole concept here is not talking about imitation, it brings on the how the touch screens iphone interface can become, the basic efficiency is met with moderate copying and would sells just like high end premium products do. Perhaps it makes everyone happy and accustoms to.
