The High Heels Sprint

New sports competition as 100 Russian women took part in 100-metre race wearing high heel shoes in five Russian cities between July 16-28, 2007. The only requirement for the run was to wear high heel shoes with minimum height of 3.5 inches.

The first woman crossed the finish line walked away with a shopping voucher worth 100,000 roubles ($4,000). This voucher can buy them a lot of high heel shoes in the city’s shopping malls.

The race was such a success that the Russian edition of Glamour magazine decided to support it and turn it into an annual event.
