For better security features, cleaner and more durable than paper notes, a new plastic banknote has just been issued by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government. It’s face values of this new plastic banknote is 10 HK dollars. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority is issuing 50 million such notes through the distributing agent, HSBC.

The plastic notes are printed on polymer material, it is soft and more durable, lasting about four times as long as paper notes. Besides the new texture, the plastic note has a transparent window with a ribbon inside. The pink ribbon turns purple when you look at it from different angles for better security features. However, the paper notes will remain in use for the time being.
