An enhanced redesigned slimmer Sony PlayStation Portable is launched. The new 4.3 inch wide high resolution LCD PSP is 33% lighter, 19% thinner than its original version weighing only 189grams, and sports a high quality video output.

This is a much welcomed news for it supports UMD discs, boasts faster downloading times by temporarily storing game data, and even offers charging through USB data transfer cable.

The new PSP comes in three colours; Ice Silver, Ceramic White and Piano Black and will be available sometime in September. This announcement comes in amidst the fierce competition from rival Microsoft Xbox 360s and Nintendo’s DS handheld in the portable gaming market.
