Britney Spears and Paris Hilton have been named the worst-dressed celebrities of 2006, according to an annual list from US fashion critics “Mr. Blackwell”.
The poison-penned arbiter of style described newly single Spears and celebrity socialite Hilton as “two peas in an over-exposed pod! Style-free and fashion deprived”. Of the hard-partying duo, the style arbiter says: “Two peas in an over-exposed pod! Style-free and fashion deprived. …. .ladies and gentlemen, the ‘SCREAMGIRLS’ have arrived!”
Spears and Hilton have been regularly photographed together enjoying nights out on the town in the wake of Spears’ decision to file for divorce from husband Kevin Federline.
Next on retired designer hit list is Camilla Parker-Bowles, the wife of the future king of England, Prince Charles, dubbed by Blackwell as “The Duchess of Dowdy”. The next in the list is Lindsay Lohan. Blackwell commented that the dress sense for this party-loving teen idol had gone from “adorable to deplorable”. Rounding out the Top Ten Worst are Christina Aguilera (“all crass, no class”), Mariah Carey (“the Queen of Catastrophic Kitsch”), Paula Adbul, Sharon Stone, Tori Spelling, Sandra Oh and Meryl Streep.
Blackwell did have some kind words, however, praising British actress Kate Winslet, Angelina Jolie, Beyonce and Katie Holmes for their sense of style.
Blackwell has issued his “ten worst-dressed women of the year” awards annual since 1960. This famous retired designer in fashion industry started his career in the 1950s. He designed dresses for actresses including Jane Russell, Dorothy Lamour, and Jayne Mansfield.
